Splenda claims that it is “Made from sugar, so it tastes like sugar.” What they don’t tell consumers is that Splenda is simply the brand name for the chemical compound sucralose, which is made with chlorine.
The U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) works on behalf of consumers to combat fraudulent advertising and marketing practices. They are especially concerned with advertising claims for food – particularly those claims relating to nutritional or health benefits.
